A Pause in the Mission
Foggy brain, muscle weakness, and a torn meniscus all conspire...

The older I become, the more valuable I find digital assets to be for the person who spends an inordinate amount of time in front of a computer screen. That “elder” insinuation becomes relevant when diagnosed with diseases that can shorten a person’s life without surgical intervention. For instance, I can lose a minimum of five years of life if I don’t treat my hyperparathyroidism. The only treatment available is surgery.
Therefore, I am switching gears to deal with not one, but two surgeries this year. One is to repair the meniscus in the left knee (the right knee also is a mess, but it has to wait, according to insurance). The other is a parathyroidectomy, where a surgeon will go in and remove one or two overactive nodules from my parathyroid gland.
I have been feeling the pain from the torn meniscus in both knees for over a year now, but I had to go through several procedures first that were useless and costly before insurance approved of surgery. I’m also feeling the effects of hypercalcemia, which include a foggy brain, muscle weakness, and excessive thirst, among others. An overactive parathyroid node is always the cause of these symptoms unless you are overdosing on calcium supplements.
Don’t laugh. That overdose happened to me in early 2025, and the dosage was prescribed.
As a result, I’m taking a few months off to use my energy for other issues in my life. Family, for one. My poetry and writing, for another. No sense in hoping to leave a legacy if you can’t create that legacy, right? And, of course, to straighten out my health issues and heal properly as I get my digital asset ducks in a row.
In the meantime, I’m happy to announce that I finally published my chapbook, the revived and revamped “She-Oak.” If you would like an autographed copy, use the PayPal link in the red “She-Oak” button below. You’ll need to provide a mailing address with PayPal, no matter how you pay them (Venmo, CC, etc.), so I can send the book to you.
Thanks! These sales will help a bit with my medical bills. And, yes, I am insured, but that doesn’t mean much these days. Even with Medicare, the elderly population in this country is coping with rising deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. Many thanks in advance.
