It took me a few years and much repetition of, "Why did I do it this way?" before I got into a routine of naming photos, vital records, newspaper articles, etc. in the same format each time. Having an informative and consistent format definitely helps.

Really helps when working on extensive projects like genealogy! I have folders by surname and decades. =)
