Search engines prefer organized websites. Logical structure also helps human readers navigate easily. As I wrote last week, SEO is far from dead, despite AI. Organizing, using tags, and categorizing everything like you’ll lose a bet if you don’t is how you need to operate.
If you’ve ever played the game, Solitaire Associations Journey, you know what I mean. The creators of this game came up with some crazy clues to seemingly normal categories. Then they put a time limit on it, and a limit on how many times you can move a card. The game’s objective, I fear, is to make the player feel like a failure.
That’s how your reader will feel if they come to your website, blog, or newsletter and don’t find what they want. If they’re desperate (your content is THAT good), they may stick around, send support an email, or give up. Lesser hunters like me will move on if even one of your links doesn’t work.
Take a few moments to see your product as your readers see it. Ask a co-worker or friend to look through the site with you. Use the following checklist, then clear up issues using the “5-Minute Action” plan.

Create one category that groups similar content. Take a look at some Substacks to see how they organize their blogs with the additions of podcasts and notes, for instance.
