I do a lot of research and download loads of articles, documents, photos, etc. I create a folder for that topic and then use the same format for naming: year, month, day, article/document name, source, page 1 or 2, etc. Putting the year first orders the files in chronological order by year and makes it easier to find later.

It took me plenty of time wishing I had done better naming files to get into the habit, but it sure does make things easier now.
