📚 Week 3. Spotlight + Simplify
Highlight one term, tool, or topic your readers may find confusing and then explain it in plain English. For me, I might work on the three topics listed below (let me know how I did in the comments):
“What is affiliate income (and how do you get it)?” When you share unique affiliate links or codes for third-party merchandise or services on your website, newsletter, or other format and receive commission from sales of that item, you are participating in affiliate income.
“Digital real estate, explained in 2 minutes”: Digital real estate echoes physical real estate, as both offer virtual properties for investment, development, and monetization (I think that was far less than two minutes).
“What’s a digital will, and do you need one?” If you have an email account, blogs, and/or online stores, a digital will can outline your wishes for those accounts after your demise. A digital will can relieve your beneficiaries of the decisions about what to do with your digital real estate.
🧩 Look for easier ways to break big ideas into bite-sized content. Also, try using Grammarly. Even the free version can help you clarify your content.
A note: Someone told me about AI detectors, or online “detectives” that can sniff out AI text in documents. Some are free. This person suggested that schools and universities are using them to check homework, essays, and other long-form assignments for any trace of AI.
I decided to try it out to feed my curiosity. I wrote an article (for Hyperdivergent) and ran it through the AI detector. OUCH! The report returned an 85% machine-written verdict on my very human article. Granted, it was a rough draft, but I researched a few articles to learn more about how these robots work and returned with a new copy. The AI detector returned a 90% human result on my second try.
I went to ChatGPT and asked for an article based on the same topic. I ran that article through two AI detectors. One detector, the one I used on my paper, returned a 45% verdict. The other AI detector returned a 35% result.
The lesson here? I don’t trust AI detectors. Learn more about how AI detectors work. Also, check out 4 Ways AI Content Detectors Work To Spot AI.
See you next week!
